Robert Granderoute, former professeur des universités, taught at the Université of Pau. A specialist of 18th-century education, he is the author of Le Roman pédagogique de Fénelon à Rousseau (Slatkine, 1985) and of numerous articles relative to the same subject; he edited the Essai de l'éducation nationale de La Chalotais (CNRS Éditions et Publications de l'université de Saint-Etienne, 1996). He has also done research on the 18th-century press, and participates) in the editing of Voltaire’s Œuvres complètes (Oxford) and Grimm’s Correspondance littéraire (Ferney-Voltaire).
