Patrick Andrivet

Besides a certain number of articles, published by the Voltaire Foundation (acts of different Enlightenment congresses), by the review Dix-Huitième siècle, by the Revue Montesquieu, Patrick Andrivet is a participant in the edition of the Correspondance of de la Beaumelle (8 volumes to date, published by the Voltaire Foundation).

He has three books published by Paradigme (Orléans): Les Romains de Saint-Evremond (2000), La Liberté coupable ou les anciens Romains selon Bossuet (2006), “Rome enfin que je hais…”? Une étude sur les différentes vues de Montesquieu concernant les anciens Romains (2012).

He has participated in the edition of Montesquieu’s Œuvres complètes (introduction and annotation of Considérations sur les causes de la grandeur des Romains et de leur décadence).

An historian of ideas, he has been particularly interested in the study of Roman history from the beginning of the neoclassical era to the Enlightenment.
